The class list opens with every student marked present. The teacher taps the absentees and submits. Speed is the entire design goal here, because attendance software that takes five minutes per class simply does not get used past the first fortnight.
Clock-in and leave, without the register in the office
Teachers clock in and out from the app, with automatic check-out for anyone who forgets. They apply for their own leave in the app and the school approves it, and they approve or decline student leave requests for their class.
